While the battle for overall honours provides the main attraction, the Total 24 Hours of Spa is very much a multi-class contest. Indeed, the action that take place elsewhere in the field is just as competitive as what you will see at the front. After 24 hours of racing, the champagne tastes just as sweet whether you are a class winner or the overall victor.

First take is good for the new endurance project of ACE1 Villorba Corse team, which made its debut last weekend in the 4 Hours of Barcelona on the Catalan circuit of Montmelò, immediately taking the first point finish in an international championship as the European Le Mans Series. Authors of a consistent race without any errors neither on the track nor in the pits, the team led by Raimondo Amadio and the crew formed by the Japanese driver Yuki Harata and Italians Alessandro Bressan and Gabriele Lancieri clinched a precious ninth place in the LMP3 category with their Ligier JS P3 Nissan prototype.

Ahmad Al Harthy says he is more prepared than ever ahead of this coming weekend’s biggest race of the Blancpain Endurance Cup season, the flagship Total 24 Hours of Spa, where the hugely successful Oman Racing driver is aiming to continue his podium-perfect 2019 campaign in style.

The eight-race FIA WEC 2019-2020 season, which kicks off this week with the annual Prologue test in Barcelona, represents the final competitive action for the TS050 HYBRID, which made its debut in 2016 and has been at the centre of iconic moments in endurance racing history ever since.

Race 1:

The day into night four hours of Barcelona saw strong performances by both Nielson Racing entered LMP3 cars with P4 for Tony Wells and Colin Noble and a season best P6 for the sister car driven by James Littlejohn and series debutant Nick Adcock, who was substituting for the Nobuya Yamanaka who was unable to compete due to business commitments in Japan.

Kessel Racing’s Stephen Earle became a three-time Blancpain GT Sports Club Iron Cup champion at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, as GetSpeed Performance’s Denis Remenyako earned a maiden series victory after dominating the second race in Belgium.

RLR MSport secured seventh place with LMP3 trio Christian Olsen, Martin Rich and Martin Vedel Mortensen when the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) raced into the night at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya (19-20 July).
