BMW Team RLL finished seventh and eighth in today’s two-hour-and-forty-minute IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park, in Lakeville, Conn. Tom Blomqvist and Connor De Phillippi finished seventh in the No. 25 BMW M8 GTE after starting third. John Edwards and Jesse Krohn, driving the No. 24 M8 GTE, finished in eight place unable to improve on their qualifying position. Overall today’s result comes as a disappointment after the team had such a strong performance at the last race, starting from the front row and finishing second and fourth, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The 24 Hours of Spa from July 25 to 28 is a GT3 event of mammoth proportions: 72 race cars from eleven manufacturers are going to battle for victory in the most important GT3 endurance race of the year. The elite of endurance racing will be assembled in Belgium, plus many drivers from the DTM, the FIA WEC and other international racing series. This season’s Total 24 Hours of Spa will be bigger and better than ever, with a field of 73 cars establishing a new record for the event’s GT era. On July 19-20 Scuderia Villorba Corse will compete for a double challenge in the world of international endurance racing. The Italian team led by Raimondo Amadio will be back in action both in the Le Mans Cup and in the European Le Mans Series at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya one month after their third 24 Hours of Le Mans in a row. Right in the same context of the final round of the 2018-19 World Endurance Championship, Le Mans also hosted the Le Mans Cup round known as Road to Le Mans, a double-race event where the Mercedes-AMG GT3 of Mauro Calamia and Roberto Pampanini finished twice in the points, just like the Swiss crew did in Monza earlier in the season. Calamia and Pampanini are tenth in the GT3 driver standings ahead of the fourth round in Spain, which will include its main event of a two-hour race on Saturday at 13:00h CET (live streaming on http://www.lemanscup.com).

The new Porsche 911 RSR (2019 model year) will meet rival vehicles in the GTE-Pro class for the first time at the prologue of the FIA World Endurance Championship on 23 and 24 July in Barcelona, Spain. At the official tests prior to the start of the 2019/2020 FIA WEC season, Porsche, as the reigning world manufacturers’ champions, will run two of the new ca. 515 hp racing vehicles from Weissach. The new Porsche 911 RSR was unveiled at the beginning of July at Goodwood in Great Britain. In the GTE-Am category, the customer squads Project 1, Gulf Racing and Dempsey Proton Racing will field a total of five 2018-spec Porsche 911 RSR racers.
