MOTUL AUTECH GT-R WINS ITS THIRD STRAIGHT SUPER GT POLE POSITION AT FUJI
The Official Qualifying for the FUJI GT 500mile RACE, Round 5 of the 2019 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series was held on August 3 at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture (one lap 4,563m). In the GT500, the No. 23 MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (Tsugio Matsuda/Ronnie Quintarelli) completely dominated in both Q1 and Q2 to win its third pole position of the season. In the GT300 class, the No. 52 SAITAMA TOYOPET GB MARK X MC (Shigekazu Wakisaka/Hiroki Yoshida) managed to win its first class pole position. In tomorrow’s final on August 4 that starts at 1:30 in the afternoon, the teams will compete the long 500-mile (approx. 805 km) race.

Solite Indigo Racing’s MG Choi boosted his Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia title chances by taking pole position on home soil for this weekend’s opening race at Korea International Circuit. A Mercedes-AMG also starts tomorrow’s hour-long contest up front after Craft-Bamboo’s Maxi Goetz beat Shane van Gisbergen to top spot during a scintillating second qualifying session.

CRAFT-BAMBOO RACING HEADS TO THE PENULTIMATE ROUND OF THE 2019 BLANCPAIN GT WORLD CHALLENGE ASIA
After a strong showing at Fuji Speedway in June that saw Craft-Bamboo Racing score a podium result in GT3 and victory in GT4, the team heads to Yeongam, Korea with confidence of fighting at the front again. It has been a long waited return to the Korea International Circuit, which has given the team much to celebrate over the years including two pole-positions, an overall victory, and several podium finishes in GT3. For this round, Mercedes-AMG factory driver Maximilian Goetz will join Craft-Bamboo Racing’s line-up in place of Alessio Picariello, whom will be back with the team in #88 at the season finale in Shanghai. Experienced Singaporean GT driver Richard Wee will also stand in for Jean-Marc Merlin in GT4, whom will be driving alongside Frank Yu in the #77 Mercedes-AMG GT4.
AUSTRALIAN GT INTRODUCES TWO ROUND SANDOWN GT CUP
As part of Australian GT’s policy of review and innovation in GT racing, the race format for the final round of the 2019 CAMS Australian Endurance Championship has been modified, along with the introduction of the ‘Sandown GT Cup’ based around the two events to be held at Melbourne’s Sandown Raceway [20-22 September and 8-10 November].
AUDI SQUADS PREPARE FOR BLANCPAIN GT WORLD CHALLENGE ASIA KOREA DEBUT
Buoyed by their electrifying Blancpain GT World Challenge Asia round eight victory at the Fuji International Speedway in July, Audi Sport Asia drivers Martin Rump and Weiron Tan are keen to carry that momentum into the series’ debut at the Korea International Circuit on August 3-4. The Audi Sport Asia Team Absolute Silver Cup pair are joined by Pro-Am teammates Cheng Congfu and Sun Jingzu for what will be a major push in the penultimate double header of the 2019 season. Fellow Audi Sport Asia driver David Chen, meanwhile, reunites with Audi Sport driver Rahel Frey in the third Audi R8 LMS GT3 after their successful debut pairing at Audi Sport Asia Team TSRT in Japan.
