PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports won the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship title in the LMP2 category at the 22nd annual Motul Petit Le Mans, after being forced to retire at the halfway point of the event.

Will Owen finished in 10th place with Juncos Racing after a power steering issue at the Motul Petit Le Mans, the final round of the 2019 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.

Lexus and AIM VASSER SULLIVAN (AVS) concluded their first season together racing two RC F GT3 entries in Saturday’s Petit Le Mans at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta. The Whelen Engineering Cadillac DPi-V.R won the season ending round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Motul Petit Le Mans from pole position today at Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

Upon taking the green flag at the Motul Petit Le Mans on Saturday, Meyer Shank Racing (MSR) drivers Trent Hindman and Mario Farnbacher have claimed the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTD Class title in the No. 86 AutoNation Acura NSX GT3.

WeatherTech Racing drivers Cooper MacNeil (Hinsdale, Ill.), Toni Vilander (Kankaanpää, Finland), and Jeff Westphal (San Mateo, Calif.) drove to a fifth-place finish in today’s running of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship Motul Petit Le Mans to end the season.

The no. 62 Ferrari of Risi Competizione claimed victory in the GTLM category of the 2019 running of the Petit Le Mans.  This was the fifth win for Risi Competizione at the famed 10-hour event, the most recent occurring in 2016.  The no. 63 Scuderia Corsa Ferrari was in contention all race long but a late incident relegated them to fifth at the checkered flag.

The Porsche GT Team concluded the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship season by winning the manufacturer, driver and team titles. At the final round of the season at Road Atlanta (USA), the two Porsche 911 RSR flying the Coca-Cola colours finished on positions five and six. This race marked the 50th and final factory outing for the successful GT vehicle from Stuttgart, which won six of the eleven rounds on the 2019 IMSA calendar. The Porsche works drivers Earl Bamber (New Zealand) and Laurens Vanthoor (Belgium) have been crowned the drivers’ champions, with the team title going to the squad campaigning the No. 912 Porsche 911 RSR. In the GTD class, the Pfaff Motorsports customer team achieved a podium result with the No. 9 Porsche 911 GT3 R.

Despite holding the lead of the ten hour Motul Petit Le Mans with less than 20 minutes to go, it was a third heartbreaking chapter for the No. 5 Mustang Sampling Cadillac DPi-V.R at Road Atlanta on Saturday.
