The 2020 ADAC GT Masters got off to a fast and furious start at the Lausitzring. In a breathtaking race characterised by several changes in the lead, the Mercedes-AMG GT3 Evo Luca Stolz (25, GER) and Maro Engel (34, Monte Carlo, both Toksport WRT) emerged victorious at the end of 43 thrilling laps. Only 0.7 seconds behind in second place were Porsche drivers Michael Ammermüller (34, GER) and Christian Engelhart (33, GER, both SSR Performance). The remaining place on the podium went to the Audi R8 LMS pairing of Max Hofer (21, AUT) and Christopher Haase (32, GER, both Montaplast by Land Motorsport). “I’ve finally got my first race win in the ADAC GT Masters,” said a jubilant Maro Engel. “I’m delighted that it’s worked out this time. What a great start to the new season!”

On your marks, get set, go! The 2020 ADAC GT Masters has begun with FP1 at the Lausitzring. The best time of the practice session was posted by Corvette driver Markus Pommer (29, GER, Callaway Competition). Three other brands made it into the Top Four – Porsche, Audi and Mercedes-AMG.

The time has finally arrived for the ADAC GT Masters to starts its new season this weekend at the Lausitzring. We crunch the numbers, data and statistics for the Super Sports Car League. Seven ADAC GT Masters champions will compete in the season opener. Apart from the two double champions, Kelvin van der Linde and Sebastian Asch, they are Maximilian Götz, Daniel Keilwitz, Christopher Mies, Patric Niederhauser and Robert Renauer.

This weekend, the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship heads to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin’s Road America for the next round in the 2020 schedule. This will be the third race for the LMP2 class, and Era Motorsport hopes to keep their podium streak alive with drivers Kyle Tilley and Dwight Merriman in the No. 18 Oreca LMP2.

GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS will hit full speed next weekend (7-9 August) when the Sprint Cup campaign kicks off with a trio of races at Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

At round four of the IMSA SportsCar Championship at Road America, the Porsche drivers will fight for the first win of the season with the 911 RSR. The North American factory squad fields two ca. 515-hp RSR racers in the GTLM class. Porsche is the only manufacturer by now to have climbed the podium at every IMSA WeatherTech round this season. At Elkhart Lake, the sports car manufacturer aims to bring home the first victory in the USA for the latest version of the 911 RSR. In addition to the two works cars from Weissach, a customer vehicle will tackle the race over two hours and 40 minutes: Wright Motorsports contests the GTD category with a Porsche 911 GT3 R.

 We will get a glimpse of the future of technology at the weekend when the ADAC GT Masters season opens at the Lausitzring (31st July to 2nd August). For the first time, KÜS Team75 Bernhard will operate a Porsche 911 GT3 equipped with Space Drive steer-by-wire technology from Schaeffler Paravan on behalf of Schaeffler Technologie GmbH & Co KG R. With Space Drive technology, there is no mechanical link between steering wheel and steering rack, which is a basic requirement for future technologies such as autonomous driving or for new interior designs. Space Drive Racing is a development platform set up by Schaeffler Paravan in collaboration with various teams for steer-by-wire racing cars made by various manufacturers.

PR1/Mathiasen Motorsports is headed to the 2020 IMSA SportsCar Weekend at Road America with their LMP2 entry in the IMSA Weathertech Sportscar Championship this weekend.

The American young gun will take the seat vacated by Ryan Harper-Ellam, partnering ELMS podium finishers Malthe Jakobsen and James Dayson in the #15 Ligier JSP320 LMP3 in the Belgian leg of the truncated 2020 season (7-9 August).

BMW Team RLL is planning a renewed attack on the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar GTLM class championship beginning at this weekend’s IMSA Championship SportsCar Weekend at Road America, in Elkhart Lake, Wis. The race will see the BMW M8 GTE on its best footing since the Rolex 24 At Daytona in January – a race won by BMW Team RLL for the second consecutive year.

With the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship schedule back on track, Meyer Shank Racing drivers Mario Farnbacher and Matt McMurry head to Road America for the team’s third round of racing action this Sunday.

Team Parker Racing opened the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup season in Italy at the weekend (July 24-26), but unfortunately some bad luck cost the team a shot at silverware.
