The GRT Grasser Racing Team completed a busy weekend by taking a podium in Race 1 for the 6th round of the Blancpain GT Series at the Misano World Circuit.
Belgian Audi Club Team WRT completed a dominant Blancpain GT Series weekend at Misano with a one-two finish in this afternoon’s 60-minute Sprint Cup race. The podium was completed by the #25 Audi R8 LMS of Sainteloc Racing, with last year’s Total 24 Hours of Spa winners returning to form ahead of this year’s 70th edition of the endurance classic.
Equipe Verschuur drivers Finlay Hutchison and Ricardo van der Ende secured their first GT4 European Series win of the season at the Misano World Circuit today. Starting from fourth on the grid, Hutchison moved into the lead early in the race, before handing the McLaren 570S GT4 to Van der Ende. The Dutchman then drove it to the finish, to claim Equipe Verschuur’s and McLaren’s first win in the series. RN Vision STS won Pro-Am, TFT Racing claimed victory in the Am class.
After topping every session on Saturday, Luigi Lucchini (#7 BMS Scuderia Italia SRL Ferrari 458 GT3) took a lights-to-flag victory in the Blancpain GT Sports Club Main Race at Misano, with Klaus Dieter Frers (#3 Artega Rennsport Ferrari 488 GT3) proving equally dominant in the Iron Cup class.
Ian James returned to Road America this week aiming to repeat the back-to-back victories with the No. 50 Panoz Avezzano that the team achieved in 2017. Today, he put the beginning of that plan in motion and took Team Panoz Racing to the top step of the podium for the second time this season.
The race weekend at Misano, which hosts the third of the six double rounds of the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Europe, started with a Saturday night full of emotions. On the Romagna circuit, the two night races reserved quite a few surprises, starting from the first win of the duo of VS Racing formed by Felipe Ortiz and Tuomas Tujula, who also scored a class victory in the PRO category. In the AM, Manuel Lauck and Florian Scholze took their first win with the colors of Dörr Motorsport. In the PRO-AM, instead, Juan Perez and Loris Spinelli (Antonelli Motorsport) scored their fourth victory in a row and managed to increase their advantage in the class standings. Lastly, Joseph Collado took the win in the Lamborghini Cup.

Gabriele Piana and Razvan Umbrarescu picked up their first win of the season at the Misano World Circuit after a thrilling race this afternoon. The RN Vision STS drivers made no mistakes to take the top step of the podium. Markus Lungstrass and Hamza Owega won in Pro-Am, with Alessandro Giovanelli and Giuseppe Ghezzi claiming their third consecutive victory.

Chevrolet announced today that Corvette Racing will close its 20th season of competition in grand style by competing in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) 2018 race in Shanghai. The C7.R race car, which will wear a special Redline livery for the competition, will be the first factory-run Corvette to race in Asia.
Craft-Bamboo Racing has secured two recent 24 Hours of Le Mans winners for their Suzuka 10 Hour driver line-up. This announcement comes only five days after Laurens Vanthoor and Kevin Estre took victory in the GTE Pro class at the world famous 24 Hours of Le Mans in the world’s most iconic Porsche, the ‘Pink Pig’. Completing the trio will be young Porsche driver, Mathieu Jaminet, who is best known for his domination of the Porsche Carrera Cup France. Both the team and drivers are solely focused on claiming victory in the ten-hour endurance event which will run from the 24th-26thof August as part of the SRO’s Intercontinental GT Challenge.
Moving from its usual spot as the Blancpain GT Sports Club season-opener, the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will welcome the grid for round three of the SRO Motorsports Group’s Bronze-only series. The Italian venue has been ever present on the calendar since the inaugural campaign in 2015, when current title challenger Mario Cordoni took a clean sweep of victories, and will welcome 13 drivers across the three classes as the championship closes in on the halfway stage. Five manufacturers will be represented this weekend, including Ferrari that will be represented by six cars.

Falken Motorsports has confirmed it will enter both its BMW and Porsche in a further four of the seven remaining VLN races in the 2018 season. On Saturday we attended the HSCC International Trophy historic race meeting at Silverstone. The day started with a walk around the paddock to take a close up look at the cars. After taking some pictures during qualifying we had a quick lunch in the Silverstone Club, and then headed out on track for the afternoons action. We hope you like the pictures.
