BMW CLAIMS 20th OVERALL VICTORY AT THE NURBURGRING 24 HOURS

Anniversary win for BMW in the ‘Green Hell’: the ROWE Racing team won the Nürburgring 24 Hours (GER) to present the Bavarian manufacturer with its 20th overall victory at the endurance classic. 50 years after the inaugural Eifel marathon, the #99 BMW M6 GT3 crossed the finish line in first place after 85 laps of racing. Nick Catsburg (NED), Alexander Sims (GBR) and Nick Yelloly (GBR) alternated at the wheel in an eventful and wet race, which was interrupted for roughly nine hours in the night due to heavy rain. The trio fought back strongly on Sunday to earn BMW’s first overall victory since 2010. At the end of a nerve-racking climax, Catsburg crossed the finish line 15.452 seconds ahead of the second-placed Audi. BMW Team Schnitzer completed the podium in third place, with drivers Augusto Farfus (BRA), Jens Klingmann (GER), Martin Tomczyk (GER) and Sheldon van der Linde (RSA).

POLE POSITION AND TOP-TEN FINISH FOR ALEXANDER SIMS AT THE FORMULA E SEASON OPENER IN DIRIYAH

Alexander Sims (GBR) finished eighth in the opening race of Season 6 of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in Diriyah (KSA). The BMW i Andretti Motorsport driver started from pole position following a magnificent performance in qualifying. He led the field in the #27 BMW iFE.20 for the first half of the race. However, he was unable to prevent a number of rival cars from passing him in the closing stages. Sims was rewarded for his pole position and eighth place with seven points towards the Drivers’ Championship.

ANTONIO FELIX DA COSTA FINISHES SECOND ON THE PODIUM FOR BMW i ANDRETTI MOTORSPORT IN MEXICO CITY

António Félix da Costa (POR) finished a turbulent Mexico City E-Prix (MEX), the fourth race of the ABB FIA Formula E Championship season, in second place, to take his second podium of the season after his win in Ad Diriyah (KSA). In the dramatic final stage of the race, the BMW works driver benefitted from strong energy management and moved up from fifth to a podium spot on the final lap. Through no fault of his own, Alexander Sims (GBR) was involved in an accident, which resulted in the race being interrupted, and finished the race in 14th place.

BMW i ANDRETTI MOTORSPORT LOOKING TO BACK UP STRONG PERFORMANCES IN MEXICO

Having started the season with three impressive displays, the BMW i Andretti Motorsport team now travels to the Mexico City E-Prix, with its sights set on challenging for top results with both BMW iFE.18s in round four of this season’s ABB FIA Formula E Championship. The BMW i8 Coupe Safety Car is also set to attract its fair share of attention, as it sports its new design for the first time at the race weekend in Mexico.

BMW i ANDRETTI MOTORSPORT TRAVELS TO MARRAKESH WELL PREPARED FOR RACE TWO

New year, new challenge: After victory on its debut in the ABB FIA Formula E Championship in December, the BMW i Andretti Motorsport Team is now focussing on the second race of the season in Marrakesh (MAR) this Saturday. António Félix da Costa (POR) leads the Drivers’ Championship with 28 points ahead of the Marrakesh E-Prix following his victory and pole position in Ad Diriyah (KSA). Alexander Sims (GBR), in the second BMW iFE.18, is out to pick up his first Formula E points in his second race in the series. The team and drivers have used the time since the successful season-opener to prepare meticulously for the coming races, as they set their sights on more top results.

SIMS SECURES FOURTH PLACE AT ROAD ATLANTA AND SIXTH OVERALL IN 2018 IMSA WEATHERTECH SPORTSCAR CHAMPIONSHIP

Alexander Sims claimed a fourth-place finish in the GTLM class of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship at the final round of the season on 14 October 2018. The Warwickshire-based driver and his BMW Team RLL team-mates guided the No. 25 BMW M8 GTE around the Road Atlanta track in Georgia, USA, for the ten-hour Motul Petit Le Mans endurance event, completing 419 laps of the 2.54-mile, 12-turn circuit.

BMW Team RLL will look to close the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the inaugural season for the BMW M8 GTE with a third consecutive GTLM class victory, this time at the 21st annual Motul Petit Le Mans. Following a win and double-podium finish at Virginia International Raceway in August and a second victory at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca this past month the team is fully prepared for Petit Le Mans – an event they won last year in the final race for the BMW M6 GTLM.

BMW M8 GTE EARNS SECOND CONSECUTIVE SEASON VICTORY AND THIRD BMW WIN IN FOUR YEARS AT LAGUNA SECA

BMW Team RLL recorded the team’s 19th victory and 73rd podium finish since beginning in 2009 with a second consecutive 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship GTLM class victory for the BMW M8 GTE in today’s America’s Tire 250 at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca. The victory is the second consecutive triumph for the all-new BMW M8 GTE racing car and the third BMW win in the GTLM class at Laguna Seca in the last four years.

BMW TEAM RLL LOOKING TO CONTINUE WINNING WAYS AT LAGUNA SECA

Following the first GTLM class victory and double-podium finish for the BMW M8 GTE program at Virginia International Raceway, BMW Team RLL has its sights set on this weekend’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca to extend the winning ways. The classic Northern California circuit within sight of Monterey Bay has seen two BMW victories in recent years. The BMW Z4 GTLM won in 2015 with John Edwards and Lucas Luhr behind the wheel and the BMW M6 GTLM was victorious last year with John Edwards sharing the win with Martin Tomczyk.

RAIN DOES NOT DAMPEN BMW TEAM RLL QUALIFYING EFFORT AT VIR

After three practice sessions under very hot and humid conditions, a rain shower just before the GTLM class qualifying session this afternoon soaked the Virginia International Raceway circuit and slowed the pace of the field. Electing to use Michelin wet tires on both cars, BMW Team RLL qualified in third and fifth starting positions for tomorrow’s Michelin GT Challenge at VIR.

BMW TEAM RLL READY FOR VIR AFTER NEAR MISS AT ROAD AMERICA

While the second half of the 2018 IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship can be exhausting with a race seemingly every other weekend, BMW Team RLL is looking forward to getting back to it at the Aug. 19 Michelin GT Challenge at VIR following a near miss of the podium’s top spot at Road America. Leading for almost the entire last hour of the race, the No. 25 M8 GTE of Connor De Phillippi was stalled by a fuel system issue within minutes of the checkered flag.

The annual trip to Road America for the IMSA Continental Tire Sports Car Showcase is always a highlight for BMW Team RLL. The classic Wisconsin circuit was the site of BMW Team RLL’s very first pole position and victory in 2009 behind the efforts of Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand in their BMW M3 GT. Over the past eight seasons the team has scored an additional two poles and seven podium finishes at the historic motor circuit, including two more wins in 2010 and 2012.

70th EDITION OF 24h SPA-FRANCORCHAMPS: ARDENNES CLASSIC FEATURES NUMEROUS BMW WORKS DRIVERS

The final weekend in July sees the focus of GT racing return to the Ardennes. The 70th edition of the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) will be held on 28th and 29th July. BMW teams ROWE Racing and Walkenhorst Motorsport are contesting the anniversary race with a total of four BMW M6 GT3. Numerous BMW works drivers will take man the cockpits, including three previous winners of the Ardennes classic.

WATKINS GLEN AND CANADIAN TIRE MOTORSPORT PARK UP NEXT FOR BMW TEAM RLL

During the first four races of the 2018 season, the BMW M8 GTE scored a second place finish at the 12 Hours of Sebring (USA) with the #25 car of Bill Auberlen (USA), Connor De Phillippi (USA) and Alexander Sims (GBR) after starting from De Phillippi’s first GTLM class pole. A second pole by Edwards in the #24 BMW M8 GTE and De Phillippi and Sims’ second place finish in the #25 BMW M8 GTE at the most recent race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (USA) in early May showed the programme’s continuing competitiveness.

BMW TEAM RLL FINISHES 2nd AND 7th AT MID-OHIO

The No. 25 BMW M8 GTE of Connor De Phillippi and Alexander Sims raced to a well-deserved second place finish in today’s IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Acura Sports Car Challenge at Mid-Ohio, taking the checkered flag 1.673 seconds behind the race winning No. 912 Porsche. The result was the team’s second runner-up finish of the season and the 70th podium finish since 2009. After starting from the pole, John Edwards and Jesse Krohn had an unfortunate race to finish seventh in the No. 24 M8 GTE.
