The Official Qualifying for the FUJI GT 500 mile RACE, Round 5 of the 2018 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series was held on August 4 at Fuji Speedway in Shizuoka Prefecture (one lap 4,563m). In the GT500, the No. 23 MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (Tsugio Matsuda/Ronnie Quintarelli) won pole driven by Quintarelli. Last weekend’s sensational triumph for Walkenhorst Motorsport at the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps (BEL) with the BMW M6 GT3 was the highlight of the 2018 season so far from a BMW Customer Racing point of view. After seven months of race action, it has been a more than positive year to date for the three BMW M Motorsport customer race cars: the BMW M6 GT3, the new BMW M4 GT4 and the BMW M235i Racing have enjoyed plenty of success and thrilled motorsport fans around the world. As well as the BMW M6 GT3’s magnificent victory at Spa, the new BMW M4 GT4, in its first season, has also proved to be a successful model from the word go in the hands of international customers.
Chipping Norton racing driver Sean Walkinshaw made a consistently competitive return to the world’s biggest GT3 endurance race, the Total 24 Hours of Spa, at the weekend, 28th/29th July, with a top five finish in the Silver Cup category for the GT Sport MOTUL Team RJN entry.
Autobacs Racing Team Aguri team-mates Sean Walkinshaw and Shinichi Takagi experienced extreme misfortune during round four of the Super GT Championship season at Chang International Circuit in Thailand on Sunday, 1st July, when a late-race puncture cost a certain GT300 podium.
The Chang SUPER GT RACE, Round 4 of the 2018 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was run on July 1th at the Chang International Circuit (4,554m × 66 laps) in Buriram, Thailand. In the GT500 class, the No. 39 DENSO KOBELCO SARD LC500 driven by Heikki Kovalainen and Kamui Kobayashi came from 3rd position on the grid to take the win. In the GT300 class, the No. 11 GAINER TANAX GT-R driven by Katsuyuki Hiranaka and Hironobu Yasuda was the winner.

The qualifying for the FUJI GT 500km RACE, Round 2 of the 2018 AUTOBACS SUPER GT series, was held at the Fuji Speedway (one lap 4,563 m) in Shizuoka Prefecture on May 3. In the GT500 class, the No. 38 ZENT CERUMO LC500 (Yuji Tachikawa/Hiroaki Ishiura) won pole position with the driving of Tachikawa, which extended his own record for most pole positions in the GT500 class to 23. In the GT300 class, the No. 55 ARTA BMW M6 GT3(Shinichi Takagi/Sean Walkinshaw) won the class pole driven by Takagi. These two cars will start from front position on their respective class starting grids in the race on May 4.
