In its three years of racing, the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing IMSA team has taken its Ford GTs to wins at the Le Mans 24 Hours and the Rolex 24 At Daytona.
Reigning Rolex 24 At Daytona champions Ford Performance and Ford Chip Ganassi Racing will compete with two special liveries on their Ford GTs at the Rolex 24 at Daytona International Speedway Jan. 26-27, 2019.
Ford Chip Ganassi Racing just missed the podium on Sunday in the Michelin GT Challenge at VIR, finishing fourth with the No. 66 Ford GT after the No. 67 led from the overall pole.
The 2018-19 WEC Super Season resumes this weekend and the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team is ready to continue the fight for top honours in the FIA World Endurance Championship. Round 3 takes place at the world-famous Silverstone Circuit, just a few miles from Greatworth Park where the team is based, making this the home event.
They’re definitely not alone in these sentiments, but No. 66 Ford GT co-drivers Joey Hand and Dirk Mueller love racing at Road America, which hosts the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for this Sunday’s two-hour, 40-minute Continental Tire Road Race Showcase.
Shortly after the race’s final pit stops with just over an hour to go, Joey Hand was 12 seconds down to the race leader. But in the spirit of Ford Chip Ganassi Racing’s “never say die” attitude, Hand charged to the front, passing the leading Corvette with 13 minutes left and taking his and Dirk Mueller’s No. 66 Ford GT to an overall win in the Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park today.
Joey Hand (US), Sébastien Bourdais (FRA) and Dirk Müller (GER), drivers of the #68 Ford GT who captured a victory here in 2016, returned to the podium with a strong, third-place finish in 86thrunning of the world’s toughest endurance sports car race.
All four Ford Chip Ganassi Racing Ford GTs qualified in the top 11 of the strong 17-car GTE Pro field for the 86th running of the Le Mans 24 Hours this coming Saturday and Sunday at the Circuit de la Sarthe.
