KRISTOFFERSSON TOPS QUALIFYING
Team mates Johan Kristoffersson and Petter Solberg will each start on pole position in the two semi-finals this afternoon in the fourth round of the FIA World Rallycross Championship, at Mettet in Belgium.
Kristoffersson was again fastest in Q4 to finish as Top Qualifier and be on pole for semi-final one, Solberg finishing sixth fastest after being delayed by the ailing car of Mattias Ekstrom in Q4 when Ekstrom experienced a suspension problem and was slowed. Solberg’s consistency through the event means he remains second in the Intermediate Classification and will start on pole for semi-final two. Sweden’s Timmy Hansen was third fastest in Q3 and will join Kristofferson on the front row of semi-final one, ahead of Team Peugeot-Hansen team mate Sebastien Loeb, who had a first corner altercation with the tyre wall in Q4 and was 16th fastest. Loeb will start on the second row, together with Finland’s Topi Heikkinen and ahead of MJP Racing Team Austria team mates Kevin Eriksson and Timo Scheider.
Norway’s Andreas Bakkerud set the second fastest time in Q2 after a close race with his Hoonigan Racing Dvision team-mate Ken Block and will join compatriot Petter Solberg on the front row of semi-final two. Block also makes it into the semi-finals and will join Championship leader Mattias Ekstrom on the second row of the semi-final two grid, ahead of Russia’s Timur Timerzyanov and Finland’s Niclas Gronholm. Timerzyanov won his Q4 race by taking his joker on the final lap to beat Britain’s Guy Wilks.
