Pietro Fittipaldi (Lotus) cruised to another pole position, his fifth out of six qualifying sessions held so far, in round three of the World Series Formula V8 3.5 at Monza. The young Brazilian will be starting from the pole for the third straight time and will be joined on the front row by Roy Nissany, running for home team RP Motorsport. The time for the pole was 1:33.813 at 222.3 kph, while Nissany had a maximum speed of 297,8 km/h.

Confirming the great potential shown in Qualifying 2 on Friday afternoon, Austrian René Binder (Lotus) was followed by Russian Matevos Isaakyan (SMP Racing by AVF). Rounding out the top-5, Japanese Yu Kanamaru (RP Motorsport) provided himself with a nice present for his 23rd birthday. Diego Menchaca (Fortec Motorsports) was the best rookie of the field in front of team-mate and fellow Mexican Alfonso Celis Jr.

Perfect racing conditions greeted the drivers on-track as warm sunny weather highlighted the session since its earliest stages. With his first set of Michelin tires, Nissany held the provisional pole in front of Fittipaldi and Orudzhev. Two harmless off-track excursions at Lesmo 2 involved Celis while Nissany, who had just set a record first sector, went wide at the same corner in the closing stages. On the other hand, Orudzhev found the gravel in Parabolica without touching the barriers.

Pietro Fittipaldi (Lotus)
“I’m really happy with qualifying, again in pole position which means being on pole for both races in Monza. We are fully focused on this afternoon’s race which will start at 15:21”.
