DENVER, Colo. — Furniture Row Racing, which leads the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series standings with driver Martin Truex Jr., will scale back from two cars to one next season.

The No. 77 car, which was added to the team’s stable this season to help Joe Gibbs Racing driver Erik Jones graduate to the Cup Series, will be eliminated. However, team owner Barney Visser said he would like to field two cars when sponsorship can be found for a second Toyota.

“As Furniture Row Racing looks ahead to the 2018 NASCAR Cup Series season, the Denver, Colo., based team is not planning to field the No. 77 Toyota as a second car entry,” Visser said. “It is our organization’s goal to operate a two-car team in the future and we will continue to seek sponsorship funding for the No. 77. Our 100 percent focus for next season will be on the No 78 Toyota Camry, which will be driven by Martin Truex Jr.”

Jones, who was on loan from Joe Gibbs Racing, will return to JGR to drive the No. 20 Toyota, replacing Matt Kenseth.
