First of all congrats to Roman De Angelis for his win today at the Roar Before the 2018 Daytona 24 hours. Starting From 8 th position he worked his way up to 1st position taking an impressive first win of the season in the LMP3 division of the IMSA Prototypes challenge presented by Mazda.

Friday, Roman had qualified in 8th place due to a fuel flow issue caused by a cracked valve in the fuel cell that meant that Roman had to be careful at the start and not get into any accidents which he did brilliantly. After the start of the race, roman started picking cars off and working his way to the front.  Halfway thru the race, De Angelis was up into second, shortly after the halfway mark he took first place and started to dig a pretty good gap to the second car ending with 4 second lead over second place finisher David Droux.

Third place went to a charging Daniel Morad which cut down the gap to the leaders after taking over from his teammate But time wasn’t on there side and Morad had to settle for third rounding out the podium.

Q & A:

How did you feel the first few laps with your car and the pace you had in the early stages?

We never drove truly at 100% through the race because that’s not how to win in those kinds of races. Calm, consistent and risk-free is what wins and that’s what we did.

What’s your feeling for the next races in 2018?

Going into the new year I’m Definitely confident I mean what better way to start the season off.

What was your favorite part of the race? except winning of course Haha.

The first 10 minutes passing through cars and seeing the team afterward. They have so much passion and the fact that I could put it together for them after what they did for me is awesome.
